Unknown,
but Watch:
Matthew
24:36-41 “...But concerning that day and hour no one
knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the
Father only. For as were the days of Noah, so will be the coming of
the Son of Man. For as in those days before the flood they were
eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day
when Noah entered the ark, and they were unaware until the flood came
and swept them all away, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.
Then two men will be in the field; one will be taken and one left.
Two women will be grinding at the mill; one will be taken and one
left....”
Mark
13:32-33 “...But concerning that day or that hour, no
one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but
only the Father. Be on guard, keep awake. For
you do not know when the time will come...”
Luke
17:26-28 “...Just as it was in the days of Noah, so will it be
in the days of the Son of Man. They were eating and drinking and
marrying and being given in marriage, until the day when Noah entered
the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all. Likewise, just as
it was in the days of Lot - they were eating and drinking, buying and
selling, planting and building,...”
Who
knows when the End of the Age will occur?
- Only the Father.
Who
doesn’t know when the End of the Age will occur?
- Not the angels of heaven.
- Not the Son.
- Not any human promoting an end time agenda.
What
will the end be like?
- Jesus already talked about great tribulation.
- He already talked about the sun darkening and the stars falling.
- But now He’s saying life will be going on as normal - marrying, working the fields.
Matthew
24:42-44 “...But know this, that if the master of the house had
known in what part of the night the thief was coming, he would have
stayed awake and would not have let his house be broken into.
Therefore you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an
hour you do not expect. Therefore, stay awake,
for you do not know on what day your Lord is coming...”
Mark
13:34-37 “...It is like a man going on a journey, when he leaves
home and puts his servants in charge, each with his work, and
commands the doorkeeper to stay awake. Therefore stay awake
- for you do not know when the master of the house will come, in the
evening, or at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or in the
morning— lest he come suddenly and find you asleep. And what I say
to you I say to all: Stay awake...”
Luke
21:34-36 “...But watch yourselves lest your
hearts be weighed down with dissipation and drunkenness and cares of
this life, and that day come upon you suddenly like a trap. For it
will come upon all who dwell on the face of the whole earth. But stay
awake at all times, praying that you may have strength to escape all
these things that are going to take place, and to stand before the
Son of Man...”
What
does Jesus advise?
- Stay awake.
- Watch yourselves.
- Don’t be lulled into the expectation that all will proceed as it has always proceeded.
- Don’t let the cares of this life set a trap for you.
Matthew
24:45-51 “...Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom his
master has set over his household, to give them their food at the
proper time? Blessed is that servant whom his master will find so
doing when he comes. Truly, I say to you, he will set him over all
his possessions. But if that wicked servant says to himself, ‘My
master is delayed,’ and begins to beat his fellow servants and eats
and drinks with drunkards, the master of that servant will come on a
day when he does not expect him and at an hour he does not know and
will cut him in pieces and put him with the hypocrites. In that place
there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth...”
Who
are the servants that God has set over His creation?
- We’re all in this together.
- We all have responsibilities.
Who
are the wise servants?
- Matthew 25:40 “...And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me...’
- Those who take care of others, especially the least of these..
Who
are the wicked servants?
- Matthew 25:45 “...Then he will answer them, saying, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me...’
- Those who are self indulgent, failing to care for the least of these.
