STANDING -
with God's truth the foundation of our lives.
Exodus 33:21 ”...Then
the Lord said, "Behold, there is a place by Me, and you
shall stand there on the rock;...”
- Moses was privileged to
stand by God, and see His glory.
Leviticus 26:37 “...They
will therefore stumble over each other as if running from the sword,
although no one is pursuing; and you will have no strength
to stand up before your enemies...”
- the penalty for
disobedience included an inability to stand.
1 Kings 19:11 “...So
He said, "Go forth and stand on the mountain before
the Lord." And behold, the Lord was passing by! And a
great and strong wind was rending the mountains and breaking in
pieces the rocks before the Lord; but the Lord was not in the wind.
And after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the
earthquake...”
- Elijah stood on Mt.
Horeb in the midst of wind, earthquake and fire, and heard the
gentle, low whisper of God.
- are we standing in the
midst of clamor and chaos, and hearing God?
1 Chronicles 23:30
“...They are to stand every morning to thank and to
praise the Lord, and likewise at evening,...”
- a major duty of the
Levitical priests was to stand and praise the Lord.
Psalms 24:3-4 “...Who
may ascend into the hill of the Lord? And who may stand in
His holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart,
Who has not lifted up his soul to falsehood And has not sworn
deceitfully...”
- are there conditions
that qualify a person to stand in God’s presence?
Ezekiel 22:30 "...I
searched for a man among them who would build up the wall and stand
in the gap before Me for the land, so that I would not
destroy it; but I found no one..."
- when there are wrongs,
oppressions, and injustices, is there anyone who will stand in the
gap?
Mark 11:25 "...Whenever
you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything
against anyone, so that your Father who is in heaven will also
forgive you your transgressions..."
- forgiveness is
essential as we stand in prayer before God.
1 Corinthians 16:13-14
"...Be on the alert, stand firm in the faith,
act like men, be strong. Let all that you do be done in love..."
Ephesians 6:10-13
"...Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His
might. Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be
able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. For
our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers,
against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness,
against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.
Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to
resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to
stand firm..."
- what do you think it
means to stand firm in the faith?
Jude 1:24 "...Now
to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to make
you stand in the presence of His glory blameless with
great joy,..."
- can we be kept from
stumbling? can we stand before Him blameless with great joy?
We must be willing
to be gathered together by Jesus, to lay down our wants and embrace
God's.
We must be waiting
to be strengthened and directed.
Having put on the full
armor of God, we must be standing firm.
What is the foundation of
our lives? On what do we stand?
