The Revelation of Jesus Christ

REVELATION

The Revelation of Jesus Christ to the apostle John and to believers of all ages is a book that offers both a blessing and curse. Reading, hearing, and heeding provides a blessing (1:3). Adding to or taking away from what is written results in plagues (22:18,19). This makes it extremely challenging for me to provide these notes. It will always be wiser to simply read what was recorded by John.

Rev. 1

1 - Jesus Christ, revealed to John, to show His bondservants what must soon take place.

3 - Blessing for those who read, who hear, who heed what is written.

9-20 In the Spirit, John sees the glorified Christ in the middle of seven churches, holding the angels of the churches in His right hand.

Rev. 2

Seven Churches.

12-17 3rd: Pergamum has some who hold to wrong teaching and needs to repent.

18-29 4th: Thyatira is good at deeds but tolerates teaching that leads to immorality and idolatry. Needs to hold fast as God judges wickedness.

Rev. 3

1-6 5th: Sardis has a reputation of being alive, but is in danger of becoming completely dead. Needs to remember the truth, keep it, and repent.

7-13 6th: Philadelphia has kept the word and will be kept from the hour of testing of the whole world.

14-22 7th: Laodicea is lukewarm, and needs what Christ offers. Needs to be zealous and repent.

Rev. 4

2 - “...Immediately I was in the Spirit; and behold, a throne was standing in heaven, and One sitting on the throne...” John gets to see the throne in heaven.

5-11 Four living creatures never cease to proclaim the Lord God’s holiness, giving glory and honor and thanks.

Rev. 5

1-7 The Lion from the tribe of Judah, the lamb that was slain, is the only one worthy to open the book held by Him who sat on the throne.

13-19 6th trumpet (2nd woe): Angels released to kill a third of mankind by fire, smoke, and brimstone.

The Holy Spirit then renews.
