Col.1
9 - “...filled with the knowledge of His will...”
10 - “...so that you will walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God;...”
13 - “...For He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son,...”
16 - All things created through Him and for Him.
17,18 - “...He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. He is also head of the body, the church; and He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that He Himself will come to have first place in everything...”
22,23 - “...yet He has now reconciled you in His fleshly body through death, in order to present you before Him holy and blameless and beyond reproach - if indeed you continue in the faith firmly established and steadfast, and not moved away from the hope of the gospel that you have heard, which was proclaimed in all creation under heaven, and of which I, Paul, was made a minister...” IF??
26 - “...that is, the mystery which has been hidden from the past ages and generations, but has now been manifested to His saints,...” What is the mystery? 27 - “...to whom God willed to make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory...”
Col.2
2 - “...that their hearts may be encouraged, having been knit together in love, and attaining to all the wealth that comes from the full assurance of understanding, resulting in a true knowledge of God's mystery, that is, Christ Himself,...”
8 - Philosophy, empty deception, the elementary principles of the world - can hold you captive.
17 - The substance belongs to Christ.
Col.3
1,2 - “...Therefore if you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth...”
15 - “...Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body; and be thankful...”
17 - “...Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father...”

Col.4
2 - “...Devote yourselves to prayer, keeping alert in it with an attitude of thanksgiving;...”

THESSALONIANS
1 Thes.1
4,5 - He chose us and the gospel comes in word and power.
9 - Turning us from idols to serve the Living and True God.

18 - Satan hindered Paul. Has he ever hindered you?

2 - Need for strength and encouragement.
10 - Need to complete what is lacking in faith.
12 - Need to increase and abound in love for all.
13 - What happens at the coming? [established blameless] “It is finished” isn’t finished until the end of the age.
1 Thes.4
1 - Need to excel at walking with and pleasing God.
2-8 Expectation for purity that isn’t known among those who don’t know God.
11 - Ambition? [quiet life, minding own business, work with hands]
13-18 Brief discussion of resurrection. When? [future, at trumpet]

1-11 Day of the Lord
- comes like a thief.
- when “peace and safety”
- not a thief for those destined for obtaining salvation.
- encourage and build up one another (down with sarcasm).
14 - “...We urge you, brethren, admonish the unruly, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with everyone...”
15 - Seek what is good for all
16-18 Always rejoice, pray, give thanks.
19-21 Let the Spirit move, move in the Spirit.
23 - “...Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you entirely; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved complete, without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ...”
2 Thes.1
8-10 Eternal destruction - away from the presence of the Lord. When? [on the day He is glorified in His saints]

3 - Apostasy comes first, man of lawlessness.

TIMOTHY
1 Tim.1
3-4 Watch out for strange doctrines, myths, genealogies, and speculations.
5 - Goal is love, which comes from a pure heart, good conscience and sincere faith.
9-10 List of the unrighteous.
18-19 Fight the good fight, keeping faith and a good conscience. Is it a fight to avoid unrighteousness?

4 - “... [God] desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth...”

Requirements for leaders (overseers and deacons).
1 Tim.4
7 - “...discipline yourself for the purpose of godliness...”
10 - “...For it is for this we labor and strive, because we have fixed our hope on the living God, who is the Savior of all men, especially of believers...” Savior of unbelievers? This life or eternity? Did He save you from anything before you were a believer?
13 - “...give attention to the public reading of Scripture, to exhortation and teaching. ...” Should scripture be allowed in public places?
16 - “...Pay close attention to yourself and to your teaching; persevere in these things, for as you do this you will ensure salvation both for yourself and for those who hear you...” Ensure?
1 Tim.5
8 - “...But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever...” Would Paul approve of our current entitlement programs?
1 Tim.6
9-10 “...But those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a snare and many foolish and harmful desires which plunge men into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all sorts of evil, and some by longing for it have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs...”
17 - “...Instruct those who are rich in this present world not to be conceited or to fix their hope on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly supplies us with all things to enjoy...”
2 Tim.1
7 - “...For God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power and love and discipline...”
12 - “...For this reason I also suffer these things, but I am not ashamed; for I know whom I have believed and I am convinced that He is able to guard what I have entrusted to Him until that day...”
2 Tim.2
Soldiers, athletes and farmers are focused, disciplined, and hard working.
11,12 “...It is a trustworthy statement: For if we died with Him, we will also live with Him; If we endure, we will also reign with Him; If we deny Him, He also will deny us;...”
16 - “...But avoid worldly and empty chatter, for it will lead to further ungodliness,...”
22 - “...Now flee from youthful lusts and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart...”
25 - Repentance leads to knowledge. Notice which comes first.
2 Tim.3
2-5 “...For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; Avoid such men as these...” Does this sound like godliness? Is the inward character left untouched by the Holy Spirit? What is missing? [repentance and the power of the Holy Spirit to transform].
7 - “...always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth...” Without repentance, the truth is missed.
12 - “...Indeed, all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will be persecuted...” Really?
16-17 “...All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work...” How can scripture profit a person? [equip for every good work]
2 Tim.4
3 - “...For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires,...”
TITUS
Titus 1
7 - “...For the overseer must be above reproach as God's steward, not self-willed, not quick-tempered, not addicted to wine, not pugnacious, not fond of sordid gain,...”
16 - “...They profess to know God, but by their deeds they deny Him, being detestable and disobedient and worthless for any good deed...”
Titus 2
11,12 “...For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all men, instructing us to deny ungodliness and worldly desires and to live sensibly, righteously and godly in the present age,...” Saving us from this ungodly age.
Titus 3
5-7 “...He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that being justified by His grace we would be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life...” Washing is the redemption. The Holy Spirit then renews.
14 - “...Our people must also learn to engage in good deeds to meet pressing needs, so that they will not be unfruitful...”
PHILEMON
A slave is saved and returned to be a blessing. We are likewise sent back to the world from which we escaped.
HEBREWS
Heb.1
1-3 Jesus, an exact representation of God’s nature, made the world, upholds the world, purified humanity, and sits at the right hand of God.
7 - Are angels wind and fire?
14 - “...Are they not all ministering spirits, sent out to render service for the sake of those who will inherit salvation?...” Will inherit?
Heb.2
1 -We need to “...pay much closer attention...” so we “...do not drift...”
10 - Jesus is the author of salvation, perfected by suffering.
14 - Jesus renders the devil powerless.
Heb.3
6 - Christ is building us into something. Our part is to hold onto confidence.
10 - Not knowing His ways leads to straying in our hearts.
12-19 Unbelief leads to deceit, leads to hardening, leads to not entering God’s rest.
Heb.4
1,2 The word must unite with faith to enter God’s rest.
9 - “...So there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God...”
13-16 Ultimately we all must do business with God. Confidence is possible only because of Jesus.
Heb.5
8,9 Jesus, the source of salvation, learned obedience through suffering.
14 - Growing up takes practice and training.
Heb.6
9,10 There are things that accompany salvation ... work, love, ministry.
18,19 - “...we who have taken refuge would have strong encouragement to take hold of the hope set before us. This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, a hope both sure and steadfast and one which enters within the veil,...”
